There’s a good chance you’ve never heard of Jay Collins. That makes you lucky.

Collins, Florida’s “conservative” lieutenant governor, announced on Monday that he’s running to replace Ron DeSantis as his state’s chief executive. He joins a crowded GOP field including James Fishback, Congressman Byron Donalds, and others. 

Why do we brand Collins a fake conservative? Because he’s willing to sacrifice the Constitution in the name of a foreign country. Take a look at this video of him saying free speech must take a back seat to Israel for proof. 

We don’t raise this point to attack Israel; this story has nothing to do with America’s “special ally.” Collins’s behavior would be equally disqualifying if it endorsed the U.S. prioritizing Brazil, Mongolia, or any other foreign country before the American people’s civil liberties. Our leaders must put our country first, and that means protecting free speech at all costs. It’s hard to imagine a more moderate stance.
