U.S. to Freeze Immigration from Somalia, 74 Other Countries

It’s a good thing Tim Walz isn’t running for reelection. His most reliable voter bloc just took a big hit.

The State Department on Wednesday announced an impending immigration freeze from Somalia and 74 other countries, planning to pause immigrant visa processing beginning January 21st. Other suspended countries will include Afghanistan, Brazil, Iran, Iraq, Egypt, Nigeria, Thailand, Yemen, and Russia. 

The move comes after an internal investigation uncovered that the “vast majority of Somali migrants take welfare once present in the United States,” and amid flurries of emerging stories about brazen Somali fraud

The effort is meant to “prevent the entry of foreign nationals who would become a public charge on the American people,” a State Department official said. We hope Washington will also target other things that serve as a “public charge on the American people,” like foreign “alliances” that do nothing to help our country.
